Cut your waste with rechargeable batteries
There are a number of excellent eco-friendly batteries and battery devices available on the market nowadays. This is largely because manufacturers and retailers have listened to consumer needs in tandem with assessing environmental concerns objectively. Indeed, conventional non-rechargeable batteries contain harmful heavy metal components that, when disposed of with ordinary rubbish, break down and can cause significant harm to the local environment and wildlife. In fact, it is said that some 420 million batteries are thrown away each year, which creates tonnes of toxic waste that can pollute the air and seeps into streams and water supplies.
Thus, any solution to the problem of throwing away single use batteries must be welcomed accordingly.
One such solution is the superb USB cell rechargeable battery, which is perfectly suited to young consumers who are familiar with the technological and computerized world in which they exist and who want a green alternative to disposable batteries. Winner of the ‘UK NationalEnergy Efficiency Award for Consumer Product, 2007′, the USB cell rechargeable battery simply plugs into one of the USB ports found on a PC or laptop and, approximately six hours later, the battery is ready for use as any standard rechargeable would be.
Another ingenious eco-friendly solution to the problem of battery wastage comes in the form of the Deluxe Battery Wizard, which is a superb eco-friendly gadget that performs several different functions. Indeed, whilst being able to charge up standard rechargeable batteries, the Deluxe Battery Wizard is also able to identify the battery type and monitor its health before use. Most importantly, it is also capable of charging up standard ‘non-rechargeable’ batteries to an extent – specifically, each conventional battery can be recharged up to ten times.
